Yanitza Alicea Torres, LMSW, serves as Chief Program Officer at Grupo Nexos, leading the design, implementation, and evaluation of strategic programs that promote social innovation and institutional sustainability. In her role, she coordinates interdisciplinary professional teams and manages multisectoral collaborations that strengthen the organization’s responses to Puerto Rico’s most pressing public health and social equity challenges.
With over 12 years of experience in the public sector, nonprofit organizations, and academic settings, Yanitza has led key projects in program development, strategic planning, grant writing, and the oversight of state and federal funds. Her ability to integrate scientific evidence with the real needs of communities has been instrumental in the organizational growth of multiple entities.
In addition to her institutional role, Yanitza is a recognized consultant in grant writing, strategic planning, and program evaluation. Through this practice, she has supported numerous organizations in strengthening their capacities, increasing their access to funding, and maximizing their impact.
She holds a master’s degree in Social Work Administration and is currently pursuing doctoral studies in Education with a concentration in Leadership and Instruction. This academic background has enhanced her ability to lead with vision and articulate sustainable solutions.
Throughout her career, Yanitza has been invited as a panelist and speaker at national and international forums, addressing issues related to early childhood, public policy, violence prevention, and community transformation.
