Art, community, and learning
Recognizing the transformative power of education and arts in shaping new generations, Grupo Nexos recently visited the Pablo Casals Specialized School of the Arts in Bayamón to learn about its programs and make a significant contribution. The institution combines academic excellence with artistic training for more than 400 students who excel in music, dance, and visual arts.
The visit, organized with the support of Professor Elías Merced, provided an opportunity to learn firsthand about the school’s achievements and needs, as well as the passion that drives its faculty to nurture students’ creativity. During the tour, representatives from Grupo Nexos met with art teachers, the school social worker, and the principal, Niurka Benitez, who shared examples of student artwork and discussed the positive impact of arts education on young people’s emotional, cognitive, and social development.
As part of the visit, the Grupo Nexos team presented a donation of a printing press to support the school’s printmaking and engraving courses. This contribution will enable more students to strengthen their artistic skills and technical abilities.
“At Grupo Nexos, we believe that well-being is also cultivated through creativity and artistic expression. This donation is a way to recognize the talent of our youth and to support institutions like the Pablo Casals School, which foster holistic education and the human potential of Puerto Rico,” said Dr. Marizaida Sánchez-Cesáreo, Executive President of Grupo Nexos.
In addition to the donation, the visit opened the door to new opportunities for collaboration to support the school’s faculty and staff, more than 80 professionals, in areas related to emotional well-being, mental health, and organizational development.
For Brenda Massanet, a member of the Grupo Nexos Board of Directors, this initiative embodies the organization’s values. “Our social commitment goes beyond the projects we lead as a scientific partner. It extends to every opportunity to connect, support, and contribute to those who educate, create, and transform their communities.”
The partnership with the Pablo Casals School stands as a testament to Grupo Nexos’ ongoing commitment to promoting well-being, supporting initiatives that inspire creativity, resilience, and human development.
